The nation's No. 1 edge rusher in the class of 2024, Duncanville (Texas) High's Colin Simmons will make an unofficial return visit to Florida on April 13, according to On3 Sports.
The trip to Gainesville will be one of six Simmons makes throughout the spring: He plans to check out Arizona State on March 18, Texas on March 25, Texas A&M on Apr. 1, Southern California on Apr. 8 and Colorado on Apr. 22.
In addition to standing atop his position in the rankings, Simmons is considered the No. 4 overall prospect in the class of 2024 according to the 247Sports composite rankings. He produced a school-record-breaking 22.5 sacks during his junior year and has totaled 147 tackles, 34.5 sacks and three forced fumbles in two varsity seasons at Duncanville.
He made his way to Gainesville for the first time and picked up an offer from Billy Napier's Gators just two months before his sensational 2022 campaign, last June.
Florida has already made its presence known in the Lone Star State during the 2024 recruiting cycle, plucking elite quarterback DJ Lagway from Willis High School in a Dec. 2022 commitment. The Gators' coaching staff hopes to maximize Lagway's pledge to stockpile talent from Texas, and securing Simmons' services would be a premier way of accomplishing that goal.
