Another commitment concerning the Florida Gators is on the horizon.

Just three days removed from releasing a top three schools list containing Auburn, Florida and LSU, Gators priority cornerback target Jalyn Crawford has pinned down a commitment date.

He will announce his collegiate destination on Friday at 3:30 p.m. EST, sticking to his timeline for an impending decision prior to his senior season at Parkview (Lilburn, Ga.) High. Crawford will choose from the aforementioned trio of contenders, which arose early in the summer.

Taking an official visit to Florida on the first weekend of June, the Peach State native walked away from the program confident in the Gators' standing as a top program in his recruitment.

"They've been at the top for me. They're already at the top," he told All Gators following his multi-day stay on June 4.

He grew further rapport with head coach Billy Napier and the man responsible for his direct development at the next level, secondary coach Corey Raymond. The latter, a renowned assistant coach at the collegiate level dating back to his time at LSU, has produced one of the most prolific recruitment and development resumes in college football over the past decade.

His role in the ascension of several former Tigers to the professional ranks — Derek Stingley, Tre'Davoious White, Jamal Adams, and Grant Delpit, to name a few — is a note many secondary prospects have taken into consideration when weighing Florida as an option over the last three cycles.

Crawford is no different.

"Ultimately, I want to get to the league, and they can do that for me, and, you know, they could develop me as a player on and off the field," he said.

Simultaneously, Crawford could be a vital asset to a Gators secondary expected to lose several veteran cornerbacks following the 2023 season. Jason Marshall Jr. — a projected first-rounder — highlights the potential departures. The long-limbed 6-foot, 180-pound cover corner, as a result, has floated to the top of Raymond's short list of replacements during the 2024 cycle.

Acquiring Crawford would go a long way in replenishing the unit for the future. If he chose UF, he'd join safeties Xavier Filsaime and Josiah Davis in the secondary of the 2024 commitment class.

As the window for his recruitment closes, the Gators will have to fend off both prowling Tigers in the closing stretch to earn his pledge.
