DL D'Antre Robinson Commits to Texas Over Florida
The recruitment of Orlando (Fla.) Jones High School defensive lineman D'Antre Robinson has come to a close. He announced his commitment to Texas on Thursday, picking the Longhorns over significant interest from the Florida Gators and offers from 58 other schools.
The Gators, holding the No. 3 recruiting class in the nation for the 2024 cycle, move forward with five defensive line commitments in Amaris Williams, Nasir Johnson and Michai Boireau and edge rushers Jamonta Waller and Kendall Jackson.
Robinson long had an affinity for his home-state squad, which first entered his recruitment in June 2021 when Florida's former coaching staff offered him a scholarship.
Head coach Billy Napier and defensive line coach Sean Spencer, among other members of Florida's current staff, continued to prioritize the trenches. Robinson, a beneficiary of that reality, visited UF four times between March 2022 and June 2023, with his most recent trip being on an official basis.
It was on that visit when Spencer, in particular, let Robinson know how badly he was wanted at Florida.
However, despite the long-standing mutual interest, Robinson built a strong rapport with Steve Sarkisian and Co. in recent weeks. As a result, he spurns the Gators on decision day to continue his football career in Austin, Texas, instead.
The 6-foot-3, 310-pound Robinson is considered the No. 37 defensive lineman and No. 353 overall prospect in the class of 2024 by the 247Sports composite rankings. He has produced 137 total tackles, 11 sacks, 33 tackles for loss and one forced fumble over two varsity seasons.
Florida will now focus attention on acquiring top uncommitted DL target LJ McCray in the coming months. The Mainland (Fla.) product has long stood atop the Gators radar as a priority option to join Sean Spencer’s unit.
