After reclassifying from the 2025 to 2024 recruiting class on Dec. 25, St. Frances Academy defensive back Kevyn Humes announced his top six schools and remaining visit schedule for the final month of his recruitment process.

On Sunday evening, Humes took to his Instagram account to announce Florida alongside Maryland, Notre Dame, Penn State, Syracuse, USC as the programs moving forward in contention for his services.

Humes also shared his intention to visit the Gators on the final weekend before National Signing Day, Feb. 2-4.

It will come following trek to the Orange (Jan. 12-14), the Nittany Lions (Jan. 19-21), the Trojans (Jan. 22-24) and the Fighting Irish (Jan. 26-28). He’s yet to schedule a trip to Maryland — his home state school — but is expected to do so.

Since arriving on the scene at the University of Florida, newly minted defensive backs coach Will Harris has been working overtime in an effort to acquire the desired talent for his first season leading the unit.

The transfer portal has shifted into focus with UF signing its 18 high school prospects in the early signing window, but one notable exception in prep targets is Humes — given his recent choice to expedite his move to college by reclassifying.

Initially, the Baltimore (Md.) native didn’t include Florida in the list of programs he was considering.

However, the introduction of the Gators’ secondary assistant in Harris piqued Humes’ interest in Florida following their initial contact and a Christmas Day offer.

Harris aims to continue building a strong rapport with Humes over the next month, as the cornerback endured the busy season of visits before making his eventual commitment decision.

The multi-day stay on the first weekend of February offers Florida the best opportunity to do so, as the staff aims to lure the high-upside defensive back to campus full-time.

The timing for the visit is advantageous, considering he will likely be putting pen to paper on his letter on intent three days removed from his stay.

Upon arrival, if he were to choose Gainesville as his collegiate home, Humes would likely undergo a significant year of development given his reclassification. He’d redshirt during the 2024 season before being thrust into a position to compete for a spot in the rotation in 2025.

The 5-foot-11, 185-pound cornerback fits the mold of length and physicality Harris covets when targeting prospective talent. His prowess as a long/limbed coverage man paired with the ability to tackle in space presents a firm foundation to build from in his true freshman season.

The Gators would look to the likes of Jason Marshall Jr., Devin Moore, Ja’Keem Jackson, Dijon Johnson, Aaron Gates, Teddy Foster and Ethan Pouncey to complete the boundary cornerback depth chart, although Harris seeks to add more bodies to the room.

The transfer portal is his area of focus at the moment — although Mainland corner Zavier Mincey when he announces the schools he signed to on ENSD in the All-American Bowl on Jan. 6.

Sharif Denson also owns a spot in the room, but he is positioned to assume control of the team’s starting STAR nickel position in his sophomore campaign.

Humes will announce his pledge on Wednesday, Feb. 7, which is also National Signing Day.
