Gators DL Target Jayden Jackson Schedules Commitment Date
The Florida Gators put together an impressive run in June, acquiring ten commits in 14 days from June 12 to June 26.
Of those new additions to the 2024 commitment class, joining prized quarterback DJ Lagway, safety Xavier Filsaime and linebacker Myles Graham to push the class into the top three of 247Sports' Composite team rankings, four are set to occupy spots on the defensive line.
Notably, Nasir Johnson and Michai Boireau step in to fill voids on the interior defensive line.
On Friday, another iDL target of Sean Spencer's signaled that the end of his recruitment is near. IMG Academy's Jayden Jackson will share his collegiate commitment decision to the world on July 13, he announced via Twitter. He will make the pledge on 247 Sports' College Football Recruiting show at 5 p.m. EST.
He will choose from five schools that arose as the top contenders for his services in May: Florida, Miami, Ohio State, Oklahoma and Texas.
The impressive mix of suitors has flocked toward Jackson for a good reason.
Providing a disruptive entity to the Ascenders front during his time in Bradenton, Fla., Jackson's found his niche as a dynamic plug in the middle with the burst, strength and power to wreak havoc in opposing backfields.
Standing at 6-foot-1, 300 pounds, Jackson carries his weight well, suggesting he can add further mass at the collegiate level. Once he does, he will likely serve as a strong rotational piece at the three-technique spot in the early years of his career, with the possibility of ascending into a starting role later in his career.
Spencer, who looks to equip his defensive line with depth after inheriting a thin unit prior to the 2022 campaign, would benefit from adding one-to-two more interior trench monsters in the 2024 class.
There are several options to round out the group. Jones (Orlando, Fla.) product D'Antre Robinson sits atop UF's shortlist.
Jackson could assume that role well if he were to choose the Gators.
