Gainesville-Based DL Kendall Jackson Tabs Florida in Top 6
Buchholz High (Gainesville) defensive line prospect Kendall Jackson trimmed his list of collegiate options to six Monday evening as he placed the Gators alongside five other suitors for his services.
Electing to move forward with Florida alongside Kentucky, Miami, Mississippi State, Ole Miss and Texas, Jackson said he is "one step closer to finding his new home."
Following his offer to Florida in June 2022, Jackson talked about the surreal moment for him and his family.
"To get an offer from a school like Florida, it's surreal," Jackson told All Gators. "One of my dream schools. And yes, I was super excited to get the offer. They loved my leadership and my motor and that I gave 100% every time."Â
Jackson aligns as a legacy recruit to the University of Florida as the nephew of the late Aubrey Hill, who shined with the Gators as a wide receiver in the early 1990s. Kendall's mother, Keri Jackson, took to Twitter to commemorate the special moment.
Now, nearly 10 months later, defensive line coach Sean Spencer and Co. remain in the mix for his services.
If he were to choose Florida, Jackson would align with former high school teammate Gavin Hill on the Gators' defensive line in the future. Hill signed with the team in December and is scheduled to enroll on campus for the 2023 season this summer.
Jackson shared the desire to "meet at the quarterback" with Hill at the next level as they did at the prep level.
Given the drastic need in the defensive trenches and the proximity of the Buchholz talent to Florida's campus, the Gators will be a strong contender until he puts pen to paper to conclude his recruitment process officially.
