As the Gators look to add several bodies in the defensive trenches in 2024, one of their priority nose tackle targets is nearing the end of his recruitment.

Creekside High (Hampton, Ga.) product Michai Boireau announced June 19 as his commitment date on Wednesday, expecting to shut it down after taking two official visits to Florida (June 9-11) and Georgia (June 16-18).

In the process, he canceled a June 23-25 date to Michigan, once considered a top contender.

Currently, the iDL unit at the University of Florida is thin. The man in charge of the defensive line, Sean Spencer, has taken the steps necessary to replenish the depth in the middle short-term by adding talent via the transfer portal in Cam'Ron Jackson and Caleb Banks.

However, the spot remains an utmost need as he looks beyond the 2023 campaign to the future. Boireau has quickly risen up the board to occupy a top spot on the wish list of talent for the Gators at the position.

He's underrated but highly sought after.

The Peach State native, standing 6-foot-5 and weighing in at 350 pounds while on his OV to impose the frame necessary to clog the floodgates from the middle of the frontlines at the next level, Boireau stands out as a target indicative of the talent the Gators are striving to acquire.

He proved his worth with 43 tackles, seven tackles for loss, four sacks and three quarterback hurries for Creekside at a nose tackle spot not synonymous with producing abundant numbers in the stat sheet.

His ability to implode the opposing team's the backfields from within, often forcing ball carriers and quarterback to bounce outside, would be a welcomed addition to the Florida roster moving forward.

The Gators currently stand in a promising position to land his services in four days. Although, they will have to fend off the reigning two-time national champion Georgia Bulldogs, who have the last crack at persuading him before his pledge on Monday.
