Creekside (Hampton, Ga.) defensive lineman Micahi Boireau has decommitted from the University of Florida, he announced on Monday morning.

Boireau initially pledged to UF defensive line coach Sean Spencer and the Gators on June 19 following official visits to Florida and Georgia during the summer.

"I would like to start by thanking the University of Florida and its staff for blessing me and my family with a great opportunity," Boireau said in the decommitment note he posted to X, formerly known as Twitter. "I really appreciate Coach Spencer and Coach [Kali] James for recruiting me."

He proceeded to share his decision to decommit from the Gators, reopening his recruitment while stressing the importance of finding "the best place academically and athletically" to continue his football career.

Boireau — the nation's No. 706 recruit and No. 72 DL per the 247Sports Composite Rankings — was considered a vastly underrated interior defensive line prospect by the Gators staff.

Presenting prototypical size at 6-foot-4.75, 378 pounds, per his last visit to UF, power and nimbleness, the Peach State prospect possesses the traits needed to be a dominant anchor in the middle of Austin Armstrong's defense in the future.

He produced 43 tackles, seven for loss, four sacks and three quarterback hits as a junior from his nose tackle spot, according to MaxPreps.

Dublin (Ga.) product Nasir Johnson is now the Gators' lone interior defensive line commit remaining in the 2024 class. Clinton (N.C.) product Amaris Williams also occupies a spot in the class, although he is expected to take on the "F-end" role under Mike Peterson's leadership upon his arrival to Gainesville.

Florida could circle back around on Jones High School defensive lineman D'Antre Robinson — who committed to Texas on July 20 — in an effort to fill the void left by Boireau's departure.
