Florida CB Target Jalyn Crawford Picks Auburn
Lilburn (Ga.) Parkview cornerback Jalyn Crawford is off the board. He revealed his commitment to Auburn, namely over Florida and LSU, to conclude a recruitment consisting of 33 programs on Saturday.
Florida had been in pursuit of Crawford, one of the nation's premier defensive back prospects, since placing a scholarship offer in his inbox on April 8. He proceeded to officially visit UF from June 2-4, before officially visiting Auburn, LSU and North Carolina in the following weeks.
The 6-foot, 180-pound Crawford is considered the No. 16 cornerback and the No. 159 overall prospect in the class of 2024 by the 247Sports composite rankings. Per 247Sports and MaxPreps, he tallied 29 tackles, a sack, two tackles for loss, three interceptions and six pass breakups as a junior in 2022.
Although missing out on Crawford stings, Florida secured a cornerback commitment in the form of Sarasota (Fla.) Cardinal Mooney's Teddy Foster on Friday. Another top corner target of UF's, Wardell Mack of Marrero (La.) John Ehret, remains available.
And in fairness to Florida, Raymond's results recruiting the position a year ago — cornerbacks Dijon Johnson, Ja'Keem Jackson and Aaron Gates ended up Gators in the class of 2023 — made it a lesser need in the 2024 cycle than other spots on the roster.
