Opa Locka (Fla.) Chaminade-Madonna Prep class of 2024 wide receiver Jeremiah Smith, an Ohio State commitment, will unofficially visit Florida for the Gators' spring practice on Thursday, multiple sources informed All Gators on Wednesday.

Blake Alderman of 247Sports was first to report Smith's approaching trip to Gainesville.

Smith originally pledged to the Buckeyes in Dec. 2022, but the commitment hasn't prevented him from touring schools in the Sunshine State this spring. Smith also visited Florida State on March 14, and his upcoming Florida visit will be his third since Billy Napier took over as the Gators' head coach in late 2021.

Smith, long tabbed as one of the nation's premier recruits, is considered the No. 1 wide receiver and No. 2 overall prospect in the class of 2024 according to the 247Sports composite rankings.

After a productive, seven-touchdown sophomore campaign in 2021, the 6-foot-3, 198-pound Smith burst onto the scene with a 58-reception, 1,073-yard, 20-touchdown junior season in 2022.

It was in between those two seasons that the Gators sent Smith his fourth career scholarship offer, during Billy Gonzales' second stint as Florida's wide receivers coach, then under former head coach Dan Mullen. Gonzales just re-joined UF's coaching staff last week, under current head coach Billy Napier, to fill the wide receivers coaching position vacated by one-year assistant Keary Colbert.

Florida flipped an Ohio State commitment in the 2023 recruiting cycle, managing to keep cornerback Dijon Johnson in-state after a several-month pledge to the Buckeyes last year.

The Gators hope similar circumstances prevail with Smith in the class of 2024, in order to provide elite quarterback commitment DJ Lagway with every tool he needs to be successful at UF.
