EDGE Jordan Ross Names Florida Among Top 8
Birmingham (Ala.) Vestavia Hills class of 2024 edge rusher Jordan Ross named Florida among his top eight schools on Wednesday evening, alongside Alabama, Georgia, Texas, LSU, Oregon, Southern California and Tennessee.
Florida sent a scholarship offer Ross' way in February and hosted him for an unofficial visit on April 6.
Ross, 6-foot-5, 215 pounds, is considered the No. 5 edge rusher and No. 39 overall prospect in the class of 2024, per the 247Sports composite rankings. He was credited with 49 tackles, 2.5 sacks, 16.5 tackles for loss, "several" forced fumbles and two defensive touchdowns during his junior season by AL.com.
Vestavia Hills head coach Robert Evans likened Ross' game to that of former Gators linebacker and fellow Alabama native Jeremiah Moon.
“Jordan is a legit 6-5, 215 or 220 who runs a 4.5, and those guys are nearly impossible to find,” Evans said in an interview. “That is why guys like him make a lot of money. There is a premium on every level on rushing the quarterback and, when he’s healthy, there aren’t many like him.”
The top-rated member of Florida's 2023 signing class was an edge rusher from Alabama, Kelby Collins, and the Gators would certainly be pleased to pluck another top-tier quarterback chaser from The Heart of Dixie in the 2024 cycle.
The Gators do not currently possess a commitment from an edge rush prospect in the 2024 class. Largo (Fla.) High linebacker pledge Adarius Hayes has experience at the position, however.
Ross has scheduled summertime official visits to Georgia, Texas and Tennessee, each set to occur in June.
