Legacy Recruit Eddy Pierre-Louis Includes Gators in Top 10
On the heels of an eventful official visit weekend in Gainesville — the first of three this June — Florida’s buzzing in the recruiting department.
Amid prospects leaving campus on Sunday, a fellow 2024 recruit made a crucial announcement regarding his process as he trimmed his extensive list of 42 potential suitors to ten.
Eddy Pierre-Louis, a two-way talent for Tampa Catholic, named the Florida Gators alongside Alabama, Georgia, Miami, Oklahoma, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas A&M, UCF and USC as contenders moving forward in his quest for a collegiate home.
As a legacy recruit to the University of Florida, Pierre-Louis — the brother of former Gators offensive lineman Richard Gouraige — has shown significant interest in the Gators dating back to his original offer from the program in March 2021.
That extension from Florida led to a boom in his recruitment during his freshman and sophomore year. He pulled in offers from an influx of SEC programs and other Power Five schools.
While the pursuit has seemingly slowed under Billy Napier’s staff, at least on the public front as Pierre-Louis keeps his cards close to vest, the inclusion of Florida in his top 10 suggests it remains involved with the Tampa Catholic product as the 2024 class gears up to reach its head in the coming months.
Presenting the size — 6-foot-3, 335 pounds — and skillset needed to occupy time on both sides of the ball at the prep level, it’s unclear where UF views him as a prospect at this time. However, following the consensus opinion from other SEC programs, an interior offensive line role is most likely where he’ll find his footing when he reaches the collegiate level.
Florida, which poses a glaring need for talent in the offensive trenches, vies to acquire the composite four star’s services.
There is no timetable for Pierre-Louis’ commitment to this point, but it can be inferred that the recruitment will go down to the wire as he’s yet to schedule official visits.
But, when the time comes for his eventual announcement, the Gators are expected to be a legitimate threat given his history and personal ties to Florida.
