LB Aaron Chiles Includes Florida in Top Ten
Our Lady Good Counsel High School (Olney, Maryland) linebacker prospect Aaron Chiles released an impressive list of top schools on Thursday afternoon, including Florida, alongside ten others.
The Gators join Clemson, Florida State, Georgia, LSU, Maryland, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State and Penn State in Chiles' top ten.
Chiles currently ranks as the nation's No. 7 linebacker and the top player in Maryland, according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings, as an athletic and physically impressive second-level defender.
He showcased the burst, reliability as a tackler and diagnosis skills to be a high-caliber talent at the next level as a junior.
Following a cycle in which Florida pulled in just one off-ball backer talent in Jaden Robinson, the Gators hit the transfer portal heavily to bring in experience and depth at the spot. Just two players return from a season ago, as Ventrell Miller and Amari Burney departed for the NFL, Diwun Black transferred out and Scooby Williams moved to EDGE.
Graduate transfer Teradja Mitchell (Ohio State) highlighted the group of newcomers to challenge Derek Wingo for the starting middle linebacker spot, with Deuce Sprulock (Michigan) and Mannie Nunnery (Houston) joining the fold to present some flexibility behind the expected starter, Shemar James, on the weak side.
Still, UF has put an evident focus on acquiring prep talent to groom for the future at the position beyond the 2023 season. Chiles would add to an already elite haul of Adarius Hayes and Myles Graham compiled by Bateman in 2024.
Despite the competition from nine other programs, Florida is in good standing for the talented DMV area prospect.
Chiles is scheduled to officially visit Gainesville June 16-18, one of two officials planned. He will head to Ann Arbor the ensuing weekend for a stay with the reigning Big 10 Champions.
However, during his trip south, the Gators will look to leave a lasting impression to close on the talented off-ball 'backer prospect. Their pursuit thus far has done just that.
