GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- In the end, Fairburn (Ga.) Creekside defensive lineman Michai Boireau realized Florida was the place he wanted to be.

Following a summertime commitment to the program, second thoughts in the fall and his realignment with the team in the winter, the class of 2024 nose tackle projection finalized his pledge to Florida on Wednesday, signing his National Letter of Intent to join the Gators this offseason.

Boireau picked Florida over 25 other scholarship offers, with Georgia, Auburn, Michigan, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Texas and Texas A&M notably once in the mix for his services. He reclaimed his spot in the Gators' recruiting class on Dec. 2, despite UF's firing of his primary recruiter and previously-anticipated position coach, Sean Spencer, days prior on Nov. 27.

Boireau is one of three defensive line prospects from the high school level committed to Florida in the class of 2024, joined by consensus five-star LJ McCray of Daytona Beach (Fla.) Mainland and Amaris Williams of Clinton (N.C.) High.

Additionally, UF possesses defensive line transfer commitments from Joey Slackman of Pennsylvania and Brien Taylor Jr. of Blinn College (JUCO) entering the 2024 offseason.

Learn more about Boireau's Florida commitment and his skill set via his All Gators scouting report below.

Florida has prioritized Boireau throughout the 2024 recruiting cycle considering its glaring need for interior trench talent. The Gators fought the defending national champion Georgia Bulldogs off to obtain the Peach State prospect's summertime commitment and were able to get him back into the class despite a second look at his options, a feat for [Billy] Napier and his coaching staff. A massive nose tackle projection, Boireau tallied 86 tackles, five sacks and 12 tackles for loss between his junior and senior seasons of high school. His frame is likely to be reshaped at the college level which could lead to a redshirt year, but Florida undoubtedly will aim to deploy Boireau in the middle of its defense sooner rather than later.
