Report: Gators Priority QB Target to Visit in February
Arguably the Gators' primary target in the class of 2025 at the moment, Findlay (Ohio) High quarterback Ryan Montgomery, will unofficially visit the University of Florida on Feb. 3, On3 Sports reported on Monday.
The trek will be Montgomery's third to Gainesville since April. He also anticipates traveling to South Carolina (Jan. 20) and Georgia (Jan. 22) in the preceding weeks.
After becoming a player of interest for the Gators last offseason following a productive two seasons as a prep starter, the 6-foot-3, 210-pound pocket passer proved dominant once again during his junior campaign at the prep level.
The Buckeye State native accounted for 3,377 yards and 38 touchdowns on 71% completion to pair with 257 yards and 10 scores on the ground in 2023, reeling in a litany of postseason accolades for his play as a result, including a finalist designation as Ohio Mr. Football.
Accordingly, Florida has maintained consistent contact with the four-star quarterback talent.
He recently named the Gators, Bulldogs and Gamecocks to his top five, alongside Michigan and Penn State.
Montgomery stands next to Houston Country (Ga.) signal caller Antwaan Hill Jr. — freshly removed from his own trip to UF for a visit — atop Florida's shortlist of quarterback targets in the 2025 cycle.
The Gators aim to close on one of the talented passers in the near future as Billy Napier and Co. look to add a capable heir apparent behind 2024 five-star early-enrollee DJ Lagway and a foundational piece to the 2025 recruiting class.
Florida currently holds pledges from Plant High (Tampa, Fla.) running back Waltez Clark, Woodward Academy (Atlanta, Ga.) wide receiver Josiah Abdullah and Rickards (Fla.) High defensive lineman Jalen Wiggins.
