The Florida Gators have secured prized quarterback commit DJ Lagway's first pass-catching weapon.

On Friday, Carrollwood Day (Tampa, Fla.) wideout Izaiah Williams pledged his services to Billy Napier and Co. at the college level over several other contenders, including offers from Florida State, Georgia, LSU, Miami and 20 others.

Teasing the move just 24 hours in advance with a countdown clock labeled "Final Decision" on his Instagram story, Williams announced his allegiance to the Gators.

It bolsters a talented foundation to the skill position class Florida is compiling in the early stages of 2024, as he joins running backs Chauncey Bowens and Kahnen Daniels.

Possessing burst off the line of scrimmage, elusiveness in the open field and notable production likened to imposing deep threats at the next level, the pass catcher can work from both the slot and as a boundary wideout. That versatility proved to be a drawing factor for several teams in his recruitment, especially for the Gators, as they attempt to replenish Billy Gonzales' position room.

He's continued to display those abilities throughout the spring 7-on-7 period with impressive performances despite missing considerable time with a collarbone injury as a junior. The Gators will monitor his senior season, but they expect him to return to his previous form — if not elevate — in 2023.

Standing at 6-foot, 175 pounds, Williams presents a slender frame that will need refinement at the next level before he assumes a voluminous workload.

Florida is expected to continue being active in the wide receiver market in the upcoming months as it hopes to pull in three-to-four pass catchers with varying skillsets for Lagway to utilize at his disposal upon arrival to Gainesville.

Tampa Catholic wideout TJ Moore aligns as one of the team's top targets in that remaining endeavor while Jerrae Hawkins, Mario Craver and other prospective talents align as pieces to fill complementary roles.
