Priority Florida WR Target TJ Moore Picks Clemson
Florida Gators wide receiver target TJ Moore, fresh off the heels of an official visit to Clemson, has shut down in recruitment process by aligning himself with the Tigers.
The Tampa (Fla.) Catholic product chose Clemson over Florida in what shaped up to be a two-team battle in recent weeks. His pledge continues an upward trend for head coach Dabo Swinney and Co. after reeling in a commitment from the top-rated 2024 linebacker Sammy Brown on Monday evening.
Originally scheduled to officially visit the University of Florida June 9-11, it’s unlikely Moore will make his way to campus given the no-visit policy the Clemson coaching staff has in place for its pledged talent. Without a chance to reconcile it by hosting him on campus this weekend, the loss is a tough pill to swallow for the Gators.
Moore, the nation’s No. 24 wideout and No. 157 overall player per 247Sports Composite, was one of Florida’s top wide receiver options in the cycle.
Possessing impressive length and long speed needed to firmly occupy a boundary role at the next level, the Tampa (Fla.) native boasts the dynamic skillset for Billy Gonzales to bolster the pass catchers room in preparation for the arrival of five-star quarterback DJ Lagway.
However, Moore will instead take his big-play talents — exemplified by compiling 42 receptions for 1,021 yards (24.3 per catch) and 13 touchdowns as a junior at the prep level — to Death Valley.
As a result, Florida will be forced to pivot toward other prospective talents to fill the voids in the wide receiver corps. That endeavor starts with UF’s continued efforts to flip No. 1 WR Jeremiah Smith from Ohio State, an uphill battle at this stage.
