Gators RB Commit Chauncey Bowens Sets Official Visit to Georgia

Florida Gators running back commit Chauncey Bowens will take an official visit to Georgia this summer.

As the Florida Gators look to compile a strong 2024 recruiting haul of prospects, one of their main focuses will be on retaining a piece they already have in the class as the two-time reigning national champion Georgia Bulldogs work diligently to flip his pledge.

On Sunday, Gators running back commit Chauncey Bowens announced his intentions to officially visit the University of Georgia from June 9-11, giving Kirby Smart another face-to-face opportunity to persuade him to change allegiances between the SEC East foes.

The trek to UGA will be his third in 2023, which will be more than any other program in that time.

Bowens, who committed to the Gators in September, has seen a drastic surge in his recruitment since the turn of the year as programs around the country have taken notice of the bruising 6-foot, 219-pound rusher.

It's given him a lot to think about regarding his future at the collegiate level.

However, Florida's early arrival in his recruitment aided running backs coach Jabbar Juluke and Co. to secure his commitment and hold onto it thus far, despite the considerable interest he's drawn from the likes of Alabama, Georgia, Miami, Ohio State and other top programs in recent months.

He confirmed his loyalty to the Gators in March, telling All Gators that he remains "100% committed to Florida" despite the influx of offers coming his way since the year commenced.

But, Georgia's continued pursuit presented enough for Bowens to schedule a multi-day stay in Athens (Ga.) this summer, creating angst surrounding his previously unwavering dedication to UF.

He's the only Gators commit without an official visit to Gainesville scheduled, although working to pinpoint a summer date. Bowens' presence on campus will be crucial as Florida looks to solidify his standing as a foundational piece in the ever-important 2024 cycle under Billy Napier.

Bowens joins DJ Lagway, Xavier Filsaime, Adarius Hayes, Myles Graham, Izaiah Williams, Kahnen Daniels and Josiah Davis as the current players representing said class.
