Florida State Forward Shares Plans To Return To Tallahassee in 2023-24

The Seminoles are bringing back an international forward with a high ceiling.

Florida State forward Baba Miller has told ESPN Draft Expert Jonathan Givony that he will be returning to FSU for his sophomore season. The 6’11” freshman from Spain only played in 15 games after being suspended by the NCAA and then missing another game with tonsillitis, averaging just 4.3 PPG and 3.7 RPG.

Miller has a rare skillset at his size as someone that can defend, rebound, and push the pace as a ball handler, but he never found his role in the offense coming off of the suspension, and also never really seemed to be in the best physical shape. He had dealt with shin splints soon after arriving on campus, and then couldn’t play for two months because of the suspension.

It was probably also hard to get up and energized for games when the team was already bad when he returned from suspension and went on to be 9-23. His best game came against Clemson at home, with 11 points, 4 rebounds, and some impressive hustle plays that gave FSU a chance to win that game.

He’s far from a ready prospect for the NBA as we stand right now, which is partially why he’s back for another season. He’ll participate in the FIBA U-19 World Cup this summer for Spain, which should have him in better shape for this upcoming college season.

In an off-season full of bad news so far, it’s nice to see something good again with Miller returning to school, hopefully for a full season this time.
