Florida State Offers Son of NBA Legend Carmelo Anthony

The Seminoles offered the son of an NBA legend on Thursday.

The contact period opened at midnight for the class of 2025 basketball recruits, and Florida State’s staff has gotten to work. Kiyan Anthony, son of 2003 NCAA Champion, NBA Legend and future Hall of Famer Carmelo Anthony, announced on Twitter he has received an offer from the Seminoles.

The 6’4” rising junior is currently a top-75 player in 247Sports' rankings and is playing for Long Island Lutheran School in New York. He’s already reported offers from Albany, Pitt, Illinois, Indiana, his father’s alma mater of Syracuse, and others. His father just recently announced his retirement from the NBA after 19 seasons, averaging a career 22.5 PPG and 6.2 RPG with six different teams, most notably the Denver Nuggets and New York Knicks, and is 9th all-time on the NBA’s scoring leaderboard.

Kiyan Anthony has said he hopes UCONN recruits him and is “close” with new Syracuse head coach Adrian Autry. Obviously, it’s still early in his recruitment and he’s a long way from making a decision, so anything can and likely will change.

Some other 2025 prospects Florida State has reached out to or offered include five-star forward Alier Maluk (PA), five-star guard Jasper Johnson (MO), five-star guard Isaiah Henry (NC), four-star forward Sadiq White (NC), and four-star guard Jeremiah Green (TX). The staff is still in the early stages of setting up their recruiting board and identifying the best prospects available for their system, so they’re casting a wide net amongst prospects.
