Former FSU Star Scottie Barnes Makes NBA All-Star Game Debut
Former Florida State star Scottie Barnes made his first appearance in the NBA All-Star Game on Sunday night as the game returned to an East vs West format. In his debut, Barnes put up 16 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 assists while shooting 7/10 from the field in just 17 minutes. His production helped the Eastern Conference beat the West 211-186, with 211 points being the highest team total in All-Star game history.
There is very little defense played in the All-Star Game these days, as Barnes was just the 6th highest scorer on his own team and 9th for the entire game, but this is more of an event where the players get to relax and put on a show instead of playing a competitive basketball game. Barnes definitely put a show on all weekend, also participating in the Skills Challenge on Saturday night, having probably the funniest moment of the entire weekend as he attempted a backward, one-handed half-court shot.
Barnes also tripped in the passing challenge and dribbled the ball off his leg in the ball-handling section. He was clearly having some fun this weekend and social media was all over it. Hopefully, this is just the first of many appearances as an All-Star for him.
