FSU Basketball In Contact With All-Conference Transfer From Furman
Florida State has contacted Furman transfer Marcus Foster, per Trent Markwith of Relentless Hoops. Foster was named 2nd Team All-Southern Conference while averaging 17.0 PPG and 7.5 RPG and is a career 33.3% shooter from 3. He's a grad transfer using his COVID season, so he has just one year of eligibility remaining.
Foster signed with Furman in 2019 out of Atlanta, Georgia, and initially redshirted, making him a 6th-year graduate transfer this upcoming season. He's been more of a shooting guard in his career, but is capable of distributing the ball at times. At 6'4" and 200 pounds, he has the size Florida State prefers at their guard positions. Some will point to his 29.7% from 3 this season as a downside, but he shot 36.1% from 3 on 5 attempts as a junior and can get back to that level if he's not asked to create off the dribble as much as he was last season.
FSU Goes For The Jugular, Calls On ACC To Release Any Knowledge Relating to CFP Snub
Some other schools that have reached out to Foster include Arkansas, Clemson, Gonzaga, Indiana, Kansas State, Texas Tech, and Xavier. He'll have a handful of suitors that he'll be able to choose from considering he just entered the transfer portal Friday morning and that list will continue to grow throughout the weekend as teams fall out of their conference tournaments.
Florida State's season likely ended with a 92-67 loss to North Carolina in the ACC Tournament early Thursday afternoon. While no one from their side has entered the portal as of now, I'm expecting anywhere between three to six names to enter the portal on top of departing seniors. As of this moment, three-star signee AJ Swinton is the only player coming into Tallahassee this offseason, but I do expect Leonard Hamilton and the rest of FSU's staff to be more aggressive than they've been in recent memory attacking the portal.
