In addition to the wave of transfers exiting for Florida State in the 2023 NCAA Transfer Portal, veteran linebacker DJ Lundy has announced his intentions to transfer after four years at Florida State.

Lundy joined the Seminoles as a three-star recruit in the 2020 cycle and has accumulated 183 tackles, five sacks, a forced fumble, and an interception during his career in Tallahassee.

Florida State will likely explore options at the linebacker position in the portal, with players like Tatum Bethune and Kalen DeLoach moving on to the NFL.

"Nole Nation It’s always been my dream to play at FSU. It’s been a blessing to be able to play at this wonderful University. This decision hasn’t been easy but after much thought and prayer, I’ve decided that it will be best for my career to enter the transfer portal."

As of now, the Seminoles have four scholarship linebackers who are eligible to return in 2024; redshirt freshman Omar Graham, true freshman Blake Nichelson, true freshman Justin Cryer, and true freshman DeMarco Ward. The team also has three-star Timir Hickman-Collins and three-star Jayden Parrish committed in its high school recruiting class.

Outside of Lundy, the Seminoles have seen quarterback AJ Duffy, running back CJ Campbell, tight end Markeston Douglas, tight end Preston Daniel, offensive lineman Bless Harris, offensive lineman Thomas Schrader, offensive lineman Daughtry Richardson, offensive lineman Qae'shon Sapp, defensive tackle Malcolm Ray, defensive tackle Ayobami Tifase, linebacker Dylan Brown-Turner, and kicker Tyler Keltner enter the portal.

Star defensive end Patrick Payton previously declared his intentions to do so but removed the references on social media and never officially appeared in the database.

Players enter the portal for many reasons in the new NIL era of college football. The current transfer portal window opened on Monday and will close January 2, 2024.
