Checking in on Florida State's Team Awards for the 2022 season
Prior to the Cheez-It Bowl victory against Oklahoma, Florida State held a ceremony for its players and staff where the 2022 team awards were unveiled. It was a season worth celebrating and reflection after the Seminoles finished with double-digit victories for the first time in six years.

Here's a full list of the Seminoles who were honored for their performances and a breakdown of the awards.
Offensive Most Improved Player: Running Back Lawrance Toafili and Wide Receiver Kentron Poitier
Toafili rushed 93 times for 457 yards and five touchdowns on the ground while adding 24 catches for 268 yards and another score.
Poitier caught 14 passes for 283 yards and four touchdowns after only recording 61 yards during his first two years with the Seminoles.
Defensive Most Improved Player: Cornerback Renardo Green and Cornerback Jarrian Jones
Green is coming off a career year where he recorded 58 tackles, three tackles for loss, and five pass deflections.
Jones displayed consistency as the season progressed and ended with 19 tackles, five pass deflections, and an interception.
Crenshaw Award (Presented by the Tallahassee QB Club to the offensive player with the most heart): Wide Receiver Mycah Pittman and Tight End Camren McDonald
Pittman recorded a career-high 32 catches for 330 yards and three touchdowns through the air and seven rushes for 35 yards on the ground while also contributing on special teams.
McDonald pushed through a preseason foot injury to have his best season with the program as a redshirt senior. He caught 21 passes for 312 yards and a score.
Monk Bonasorte Award (Presented by the Tallahassee QB Club to the defensive player with the most heart: Linebacker Kalen DeLoach and Linebacker Tatum Bethune
DeLoach recorded 57 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, three sacks, and seven pass breakups.
Bethune totaled 76 tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, three pass breakups, and a fumble recovery.
Don Powell Award (Presented by the Orlando Seminole Club to the Unsung Heroes): Offensive Line (Darius Washington, Dillan Gibbons, Maurice Smith, Robert Scott, D'Mitri Emmanuel, Jazston Turnetine)
Florida State's offensive line was an intregal piece of the unit being among the top in the country during the 2022 season. The Seminoles recorded seven straight games with 200+ rushing yards to conclude the regular season. The team only allowed 20 sacks and scored 30+ points in nine contests.
Bill McGrotha Award (Presented by the Tallahassee QB Club to the top Humanitarians): Linebacker Amari Gainer, Offensive Guard Dillan Gibbons, Quarterback Gino English, Kicker Ryan Fitzgerald, Defensive back Jaden Floyd, and defensive end Derrick McLendon II
The Seminoles have a plethora of players who volunteer locally or elsewhere to provide positive impacts off the field. Veteran offensive lineman Dillan Gibbons has had tremendous success with Big Man Big Heart over the last couple of years.
Devaughn Darling Award (Presented to the defensive freshmen of the year): Defensive Tackle Joshua Farmer and Defensive End Patrick Payton
Farmer earned more playing time throughout the season and is primed for a bigger role in 2023. He recorded 13 tackles, six tackles for loss, and two sacks.
Payton was named the ACC Defensive Rookie of the Year after a promising campaign. He totaled 29 tackles, five tackles for loss, four sacks, three pass breakups, and a forced fumble.
Offensive Newcomers of the Year: Wide Receiver Johnny Wilson and Running Back Trey Benson
Both players exceeded expectations after coming to Florida State from the NCAA Transfer Portal.
Wilson caught 43 passes for 897 yards and five touchdowns. That included a record bowl performance for the program where Wilson hauled in eight passes for 202 yards.
Benson rushed 154 times for 990 yards and nine touchdowns. He also caught 13 passes for 144 yards.
Special Teams Newcomer of the Year: Wide Receiver Mycah Pittman
Pittman helped the Seminoles have their most successful punt return unit in quite some time. He had 18 returns for 169 yards (9.4 yards per return).
Bobby Bowden Leadership Award: Defensive Tackle Fabien Lovett and Defensive Tackle Robert Cooper
Lovett and Cooper were big leaders for the program on and off the field. Veterans and captains, they set an example for the younger players to follow.
Lovett recorded 10 tackles, two tackles for loss, one sack, one forced fumble and one pass deflection.
Cooper recorded 19 tackles and one tackle for loss
Offensive Scout Team Players of the Year: Quarterback Gino English and Running Back Caziah Holmes
English completed 2/2 passes for 16 yards in relief duty.
Holmes was ineligible to play after transferring from Penn State near the beginning of the season.
Defensive Scout Team Players of the Year: Defensive tackle Liam McCormick and Defensive Tackle Bishop Thomas
McCormick is a walk-on for the Seminoles.
Thomas recorded one tackle as a true freshman in 2022.
Special Teams MVPs: Tight End Wyatt Rector and Linebacker Brendan Gant
Rector and Gant both made game-changing plays on special teams throughout the year.
Gant was credited with a team-high seven tackles in 244 snaps on special teams with Rector right behind him with four tackles in 301 snaps (team-high), according to PFF.
Defensive MVPs: Defensive End Jared Verse and Safety Jammie Robinson
After transferring in from FCS Albany, Verse became a crucial piece of Florida State's defense. He totaled 48 tackles, 17 tackles for loss, and nine sacks while also blocking a kick.
Robinson was one of the Seminoles' top players over the past two seasons. He led the program in tackles once again in 2022, finishing with 86 tackles, four tackles for loss, one sack, four pass breakups, and an interception.
Offensive MVP: Quarterback Jordan Travis
Travis took a massive leap forward alongside an improving offense and proved to be one of the top quarterbacks in the country. He completed 226/353 passes (64%) for 3,214 yards with 24 touchdowns to five interceptions. Travis also rushed 82 times for 417 yards and seven touchdowns.
