Colorado's Deion Sanders Comments on Passing of FSU Baseball Legend

"He's a legend, a winner, but most of all, a good man."

The Florida State fan base suffered a loss with the recent passing of legendary baseball head coach Mike Martin, who spent 40 seasons leading the Seminoles and becoming the winningest coach in NCAA Division I baseball history.

Across the country, fans, family members, friends, media members, and colleagues spoke volumes about Martin's impact on their lives as they mourned the loss of such a beloved figure.

Former Florida State star and current Colorado head coach Deion Sanders recently commented on the passing of Martin, who was 79 years old, just three years after being diagnosed with Lewy body dementia, a disease that can affect motor skills, thinking, movement, and mood. It is the most common cause of dementia, behind Alzheimer's.

"God bless all the family, friends, former players, and all on behalf of Coach Mike Martin," Sanders wrote on Twitter. "He was 1 of the best baseball minds in the game. I respected & adored him truly. He's a legend, a winner but most of all a good man. #CoachPrime"

Martin held a 2029–736–4 record as a coach and earned ACC Coach of the Year seven times, Baseball America Coach of the Year twice, and the Metro Conference Coach of the Year on six separate occasions.

There will be a public memorial service that will take place on Saturday, February 10, at Noon, at Dick Howser Stadium on a field that bears Martin's name.

For many, words can't surmount the greatness left behind in Martin's legacy; one can only look back at the achievements and memories shared with such a timeless figure.
