'Rich Get Richer' With FSU Football's Addition of Star Keon Coleman According to ESPN Analyst

Another weapon in a loaded offensive arsenal in Tallahassee.

Florida State has made a living out of nabbing players from the NCAA Transfer Portal since Mike Norvell arrived in December 2019. Combining experienced talent with the developing players on the roster has been instrumental in the program's upward trajectory over the last few seasons.

That will be the case for the Seminoles once again in 2023 with the team set to add one of the best portal classes in the country. According to 247Sports, Florida State's ten transfers rank as the No. 5 haul among FBS programs.

The four teams above FSU; Colorado (48), Auburn (21), LSU (14), and USC (15) have each added significantly more transfers. No other program regarded in the top 20 of the transfer rankings has added less than 12 players which speaks to the quality transfers that the Seminoles are bringing in.

The most recent talent added into the mix for Florida State is former Michigan State star wide receiver, Keon Coleman. After committing to the Seminoles over Ole Miss last week, Coleman's bringing more juice to an already loaded offense.

During a recent episode of the Always College Football Podcast, ESPN's Greg McElroy said that the "rich get richer" with Coleman transferring to Florida State. He believes that the Seminoles have a couple of mismatch nightmares in Coleman and Johnny Wilson.

"They've done a really good job of going out and attracting guys that could be major difference makers. Keon Coleman's the next in line. I think the rich get richer. They've done such a great job this year, Florida State has, in the portal," McElroy said. "They lost Mycah Pittman but maybe Keon Coleman can fill that void a little bit even though Pittman didn't impact the game as much as we thought last year."

"I think Florida State is poised to make a really nice run and hopefully, Keon Coleman can draw some of that attention away from Johnny Wilson when they get in the red zone because two guys that are 6'4" and better, those are going to be some matchup nightmares in the red zone when you play against these teams in the fall," McElroy added.

The Seminoles have a trio of giant playmakers on the outside in Coleman (6'4"), Wilson (6'7"), and breakout candidate Kentron Poitier (6'4") to go along with a Heisman contender at quarterback, dependable running backs, an experienced offensive line, and an improved tight end room. The offensive attack in Tallahassee has the potential to be pretty deadly.

Coleman spent two years with the Spartans, appearing in 22 games, with 12 starts, while catching 65 passes for 848 yards and eight touchdowns. He finished the 2022 season ranked eighth among Big Ten receivers in receptions (58), sixth in receiving yards (798), and sixth in receiving touchdowns (7). Coleman also played basketball at Michigan State during the 2021 spring semester, showcasing his athleticism.
