ESPN Ranks Florida State Shockingly Low In List Of Remaining Undefeated College Football Teams
After four weeks of college football, there have been some interesting storylines throughout the 2023 season. Colorado reached out and grabbed the country's attention as a top team when they knocked off a ranked TCU squad and went undefeated before getting ransacked by Oregon. Florida State took down a top-5 opponent in week one and continued its win streak, breaking a near-decade drought after taking down Clemson in overtime a week ago.

ESPN's Bill Connelly ranked the current 27 undefeated teams, and the Seminoles landed at No. 9 on his list. The eight teams ranked ahead of Florida State include Washington, Georgia, Ohio State, Michigan, Oregon, Texas, Oklahoma, and Penn State. USC rounds out the top 10.
Never question Florida State's resilience. The Seminoles trailed LSU at halftime but stormed back to win in Orlando. They trailed Clemson by 10 early on the road but came back. And on a strange, windy, injury-plagued day at Boston College, they gave up a late 19-0 run but stabilized in time to see out a two-point win. Eventually having to be resilient all the time might backfire, especially against a schedule that features four current unbeatens in the next six games. But Mike Norvell's Noles are showing title-level maturity.
The Seminoles believe they haven't played their best game yet, which is a promising sign for a team that has been in a constant rebuild dating back to 2018 when former head coach Willie Taggart took the helm.
Now, under head coach Mike Norvell, there is a light at the end of the tunnel, and it seems that the entire locker room and staff don't read into outside noise and rankings. As Norvell bluntly stated in a recent interview with the media, "I don't care; I really don't."
FSU is currently ranked No. 5 in the AP Polls and in a bye week, and even though the 'Noles don't play, three of the teams ahead of them on ESPN's list play this weekend, and just one will be a ranked matchup. No. 3 Texas faces off against Kansas State, No. 1 Georgia takes on Auburn, and No. 2 Michigan goes on the road to Nebraska.
Florida State looks to remain undefeated and continue to hold on to that top-5 ranking when Virginia Tech comes to town on October 7.
