ESPN's Pat McAfee Disrespects Florida State On College GameDay

McAfee expects the Seminoles to lose one of their next four games and miss the College Football Playoff.

The first College Football Playoff rankings of the 2023 season will be unveiled on Tuesday night. Following an 8-0 start with two wins over ranked opponents and a tough win on the road against Clemson, there's plenty of optimism that Florida State will find itself inside the top 4.

College GameDay was in attendance for Oregon's win at Utah over the weekend. During the course of the show, the four personalities - Rece Davis, Kirk Herbstreit, Desmond Howard, and Pat McAfee - all provided their personal playoff rankings ahead of the debut of the real thing.

The Seminoles got plenty of love with three of the four co-hosts ranking them inside the top-3. However, that tune didn't ring true with McAfee, who expects Florida State to lose one of its next four games and miss the College Football Playoff.

In McAfee's eyes, Duke might've beat FSU if Riley Leonard didn't get hurt, and that the program had no business beating Clemson in Death Valley. He placed them at No. 6 behind Georgia, Ohio State, Michigan, Oklahoma, and Washington.

"For me, especially with Duke, Riley Leonard finishes that game, in my eyes, dude makes that thing a lot closer, potentially beats them," McAfee said. "You go back to Boston College, I know it's a red bandanna game, that's something much bigger than on the field. Florida State snuck out of it. Clemson, they shouldn't have won that game. For me, I think they've got Miami left, obviously, they've got Pitt, they've got Florida at the end of the season."

"I just don't think Florida State is going to be able to finish the season with dubs [undefeated]. I think they're going to find a loss," McAfee continued. "And for me, Georgia, to be the man, you've got to beat the man, Kirk Herbstreit. I don't know how you don't have them at No. 1. It's the two-time national champion. Are you kidding me? Can we talk about Michigan with their execution? It's a beautiful thing but yeah for Florida state, I just feel like they haven't really proven to me that they can do it but I might be completely wrong obviously."

The Seminoles hold the third-longest winning streak in the country with 14 consecutive victories where they've scored 30+ points in every contest. FSU is one of two teams ranked inside the top 5 to hold a pair of victories over ranked teams.

Florida State will continue its conference slate with a road game against Pittsburgh on Saturday, November 4. The contest is scheduled for 3:30 and will be televised on ESPN. The Seminoles can clinch a berth in the ACC Championship game for the first time since 2014 with a win.
