Fifth Transfer From Florida State Joins Deion Sanders At Colorado
Deion Sanders is in the middle of completely rebuilding a Colorado program that only won one game a season ago. That's led to total disarray as the returning roster crumbles while Sanders continues to add players out of the NCAA Transfer Portal.
It's getting to the point where he should really start thanking Florida State for all of the help.

On Friday, former Seminole safety Travis Jay announced on social media that he was continuing his college career with the Buffaloes. Jay is the fifth player (and counting) that was on Florida State's roster a season ago to transfer to Colorado within the last 16 days.
For math's sake, if Sanders somehow gets the program back up to the 85 scholarship limit, 1/13 players on the team will have begun their careers in Tallahassee. That's nearly 8% of the scholarship players.
This is unprecedented and it's starting to feel somewhat calculated. At the same time, the biggest blow of the five defections to Colorado is Omarion Cooper, who was set to play a rotational role in the back end this upcoming season. Derrick McLendon, Bishop Thomas, and Brendan Gant have also landed in Boulder.
Jay entered the transfer portal during the final days of the spring window. He was not spotted at practice following Florida State's second scrimmage of the spring and didn't attend the Spring Showcase. Jay was ineligible to play this past season but did end up dressing for the Cheez-It Bowl victory against Oklahoma following the conclusion of the fall semester.
The local product out of Madison County didn't live up to the expectations that were on his shoulders coming into Tallahassee. Jay was unable to play in two of his four years with the program. He appeared in 16 games, with three starts, in 2020-21 while spending time at cornerback and on special teams. Jay totaled 43 tackles, three interceptions, one forced fumble, and four pass breakups during his time with the Seminoles. It's anticipated that he'll have two years of eligibility remaining at the college level.
Jay was one of nine scholarship players to depart from Florida State since the beginning of spring practice, joining McLendon II, Gant, Cooper, Thomas, defensive tackle Antavious Woody, linebacker Stephen Dix Jr, wide receiver Mycah Pittman and offensive lineman Zane Herring. The Seminoles are projected to be sitting at 81 of 85 after his departure.
Florida State is turning to the junior college market for help at safety. The Seminoles are hosting Ashlynd Barker for an official visit this weekend. The program has to figure something out with only two players on the roster at the position that have game experience.
