Five More Seminoles Sign With FSU Football NIL Collective
The Tour of Duty began on Friday as Florida State begins to turn towards a 2024 season that is months away. The Seminoles are back in the weight room and on the field to prepare for the next step as head coach Mike Norvell enters year five in Tallahassee.
Early in the new year, there's been a focus on retaining talent at Florida State while adding in a top high school class and transfer portal haul. A growing number of Seminoles have entered into agreements with the NIL collective, The Battle's End.
That continued to conclude the week as five more players announced deals with the collective. Wide receiver Ja'Khi Douglas, safety Ashlynd Barker, running back Kam Davis, running back Jaylin Lucas, and defensive back Cai Bates all have partnered with The Battle's End.
FSU Football Offensive Lineman No Longer With The Team
Douglas has been with the Seminoles since 2020. He's coming off a redshirt junior campaign where he caught 14 passes for 243 yards. Douglas is expected to compete for a major role in the slot as one of the most experienced receivers on the team.
Barker just concluded his first year at Florida State after joining the program out of junior college. He played a reserve role at safety while also contributing on special teams. Barker recorded 11 tackles, one tackle for loss, and one sack.
Davis was FSU's longest-standing commitment in the 2024 class and made things official in December. He will have an opportunity to get involved in the backfield early in his career. While playing quarterback at Dougherty High School, Davis accounted for 8,762 yards of total offense and 75 touchdowns during his prep career.
Lucas is the younger brother of Douglas and began his college career at Indiana. He transformed into a dynamic weapon on special teams while becoming a versatile athlete on offense. Lucas ranked eighth in the Big Ten with 92.3 all-purpose yards per game and his three total kick return touchdowns are tied for the Indiana career mark.
Bates committed to the Seminoles late in the recruiting cycle after originally being pledged to LSU. He was a two-way player in high school, recording 26 tackles, seven interceptions, and 13 pass deflections on defense while catching 36 passes for 621 yards and four touchdowns.
Davis, Bates, and Lucas join a handful of new additions that have agreed to their first deals with The Battle's End. The group includes TE Landen Thomas, DE Marvin Jones Jr., and CB Charles Lester III.
Outside of Douglas, RB Lawrance Toafili, RB Caziah Holmes, WR Darion Williamson, WR Kentron Poitier, WR Destyn Hill, WR Vandrevius Jacobs, OL Robert Scott, OL Darius Washington, OL Maurice Smith, OL Keiondre Jones, and OL Jeremiah Byers have announced their returns on offense.
Outside of Barker, DE Patrick Payton, DE Byron Turner Jr, DT Darrell Jackson, DT Daniel Lyons, DT KJ Sampson, LB Omar Graham Jr., CB Azareye'h Thomas, CB Fentrell Cypress II, CB Quindarrius Jones, CB Ja'Bril Rawls, S Shyheim Brown, P Alex Mastromanno, and K Ryan Fitzgerald have all announced they'll return to Florida State since December.
