Florida State Head Coach Mike Norvell Talks Player Improvement, Intensity After Practice
The Florida State Seminoles are coming off their first break of fall camp and the one-day recharge showed as the 'Noles had one of the most intense practices of the offseason. FSU head coach Mike Norvell met with the media after day four to discuss what he's seen so far throughout camp.
"I'm really pleased with today's practice. It was a lot of intensity coming off of an off day," Norvell said. "We pushed our guys pretty good the first three days just in workload even though it was just helmets the first two we had a nice physical practice for practice three and when you have the off day you want to see how they're going to respond."
The Seminoles brought in the No. 6 transfer portal class in the off-season and one of the most sought-after wide receivers, Keon Coleman, was a part of it. Norvell spoke highly of the Michigan State transfer and praised his work ethic.
"He's done really well. I mean, just the work he's putting in understanding what to do, and now we're continuing to grow and develop in how we want it done." Norvell said about the standout transfer, "He's an absolute sponge. He's so much fun to coach because even though the experience he has he's coming to get better. He's coming to learn, to grow and after every play, he's trying to get to the smallest details of what he can do," Norvell said adding, "I think he's enjoying how we operate and he's made some big plays and is really a fun player to be around."
Another player that has continued to shine throughout spring and into the first week of camp is defensive back Greedy Vance. Vance, who transferred from Louisville last season has been a nuisance in the secondary and has already shown remarkable improvement. Norvell said that, "It's been huge."
"It's been a huge improvement. You know, he played as a freshman and obviously coming here, new system, new things to learn. He's embraced the process of growth. And I think you see, you know, bodyweight hasn't changed a whole lot, he's a lot stronger than what he was. He's definitely confident. He's got unbelievable feet. He's a playmaking defensive back."
Norvell goes over the tight end room, transfers, progression of camp, and more in his full interview below.
