Florida State Head Coach Mike Norvell Talks What's Ahead in ACC Championship Game
The No. 4 Florida State Seminoles are heading to the ACC Championship Game this Saturday for the first time since 2014. After finishing the 2023 regular season with a perfect 12-0 record, the next hurdle that stands in the way of achieving their College Football Playoff dreams will be the No. 15 Louisville Cardinals.
Reeling off of a 24-15 win over rival Florida, FSU head coach Mike Norvell met with the media on Monday to discuss what is in store for the Seminoles come December 2.
Florida State Seminoles Release Depth Chart For ACC Championship Game Against Louisville Cardinals
"It's going to be one heck of a matchup," Norvell said. "I have all the respect in the world for Louisville and who they are. You see the playmakers that they have, you see the coaching staff and the schemes. This is a very complete football team."
The Cardinals are 10-2 on the season and are coming off a 38-31 upset against Kentucky last weekend. Despite their two losses, they will field a very talented team on both sides of the ball. Running back Jawhar Jordan has rushed for 1,076 yards and 13 touchdowns in 2023. a
"Both of those guys are tremendous playmakers. Jordan, he's fast, he's strong, he's tough, and he's got really good balance in his feet. If he gets in the open field, he's got game-changing speed; he's a dynamic player," Norvell said. "He plays in a great system that creates space for him, and he knows what to do when he gets it. It's going to be a great challenge for our guys. I think they've got three backs that are really good, so it's definitely a great backfield.
To go along with Jordan, wide receiver Jamari Thrash has 801 receiving yards and six scores averaging 14.3 yards per catch which will certainly cause a battle for an FSU secondary that is one of the best passing defenses in the country.
"Thrash is so good with the ball in his hands. He's a guy that can win in routes, he can change directions, and he does have the vertical playmaking ability. When he gets the ball in his hands, he's tough to bring down."
The Seminoles will travel to Charlotte, NC on Saturday to face off against Louisville as they look to move to 13-0.
"We're excited for the opportunity. I've got a lot of belief in our team and what we can do. I told our guys yesterday that I'm extremely excited because we're twelve games into the season and there are areas for improvement."
