FSU vs. LSU: Three Key Matchups For Primetime Game
Week 1 is here and college football is officially back. The Florida State Seminoles take on the LSU Tigers in their first game of the season. This will mark the second game of the home-and-home series that started last year, but this time the Seminoles get to play 'host' in Orlando. Last year, Florida State squeaked past LSU 24-23 in a thriller.

This week also marks the beginning of an anticipated run to the ACC Championship for the Seminoles. The team has been receiving plenty of hype over the course of the offseason, and this matchup gives the team a chance to not only feed the hype, but begin their potential title campaign.
Here are three key matchups for the Seminoles in the Week 1 primetime matchup.
1. Trey Benson, running back room vs. LSU run-defense:
Last year, Benson struggled in this matchup. He put together a 15-yard game on six rushes -- 2.5 yards per carry. Treshaun Ward was the team's best rusher, but he's since transferred from the team.
Benson has since seen his game breakout, now he has a chance to make a game-changing impact while getting the opportunity to turn things around from this matchup last year.
With Mike Norvell's rush-heavy offense, Benson will surely get the opportunities. Now he has to take the opportunity and be a big-impact player behind an experienced offensive line.
2. Jayden Daniels vs. Florida State linebackers
The Seminoles barely edged out the Tigers last season. Part of the reason Florida State wasn't able to put the Tigers away was because of Daniels' incredible game.
First off, in the air, Daniels passed for 209 yards and two passing touchdowns on 25-of-34 efficiency. His run game was lethal, however, as he rushed for an additional 114 yards on 16 carries.
Both teams have improved, and Daniels having the same impact could be the deciding factor in this game. Kalen DeLoach and DJ Lundy will be sharing one of the starting linebacker spots alongside Tatum Bethune. This game will be a huge test against one of the top dual-threat quarterbacks in the country.
3. Florida State wide receivers vs. LSU cornerbacks
The Tigers are likely going to start two transfer cornerbacks in Zy Alexander and Duce Chestnut. They've earned the starting spots for a reason, but having two transfers at the position leaves this being one of the things for fans to look at.
For those players, defending Johnny Wilson and Keon Coleman will be no easy task and will quickly show how good the Tigers' cornerback duo is. Wilson had a breakout season last season as a transfer, and Coleman now hopes to do the same.
Jordan Travis has shown his progression in the passing game year after year. He's got more than enough threats and an elite ground game to keep things open. Targeting Coleman and Wilson will provide some elite plays in the primetime matchup.
