Florida State Opens As Double-Digit Favorite For Fourth Consecutive Week Against Wake Forest

The Seminoles have covered the spread in each of the last two weeks.

The Seminoles refused to surrender points on the defensive side of the ball for the third consecutive second half as the team finished off its homestand with a thrilling 38-20 decision over Duke. Florida State trailed entering the final frame but scored 21 points in the period, the most the Blue Devils had allowed in a GAME all season, to secure the victory.

After taking care of business in Tallahassee in October, the Seminoles will rack up some frequent-flyer miles with the beginning of a two-game road trip against the Wake Forest Demon Deacons. The team has had some ups-and-downs throughout the 2023 campaign while head coach Dave Clawson works to replace former star quarterback Sam Hartman.

Opening odds were released for Week 8 games around college football on Sunday afternoon. According to Circa Sports, Florida State opened as a 21-point favorite against Wake Forest. The Over/Under is set at 55.5 points, predicting roughly a 38.5-17 victory for the Seminoles over the Demon Deacons.

This is the fourth straight where FSU has opened as a double-digit favorite. The Seminoles were 25-point favorites against Virginia Tech, 20-point favorites against Syracuse, and 14.5-point favorites against Duke. The program covered the spread in each of the last two weeks.

Florida State has won 13 straight games dating back to last season, the second-longest winning streak in the nation. The Seminoles have scored at least 30 points in every contest throughout the entirety of the stretch.

Wake Forest is 4-3 after ending a three-game losing streak with a game-winning touchdown in the final seconds against Pittsburgh. The Demon Deacons were forced to turn to third-string quarterback Santino Marucci due to injuries to starter Mitch Griffis and backup Michael Kern.

In his first action of the season, Marucci completed 12/21 passes for 151 yards with one touchdown to two interceptions. He also rushed six times for nine yards. It's still unclear which quarterback will take the reins for Wake Forest on Saturday afternoon.

Florida State and Wake Forest will kick off at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 28. The game will be televised on ABC.
