Florida State Receiver Ja'Khi Douglas to Miss 'A Few Games' Heading Into 2023 Season

"Ja'khi Douglas will miss a few games here early in the season."

Florida State wide receiver Ja'Khi Douglas has seen his fair share of ups and downs during his college football career. After battling a preseason injury through most of last year, he played his final seven games of 2022 in what would eventually be the Seminoles' first 10-win season since 2016.

It seems tragic news has struck again. Douglas was injured again in camp and is expected to miss a few games early in the 2023 season. Head coach Mike Norvell addressed the media at his LSU game week press conference about the redshirt junior, and it is uncertain when Douglas will return.

"Health-wise, going into this week, I like where we are. We've had a few guys who had some bumps and bruises along the way in fall camp, and I think we're going to get most of them back this week," Norvell said. "I will make an announcement: he wasn't on the depth chart; Ja'khi Douglas will miss a few games here early in the season. I fully expect him back relatively soon, but he will for sure miss this first contest—probably the first couple—as we head into this season."

Douglas accounted for 123 yards with two scores a season ago, and 357 all-purpose yards after starting 12 games for the 'Noles in 2021.

With Douglas expected to miss the season opener against the LSU Tigers on September 3, It'll be up to veteran players like Winston Wright, Jr., alongside freshman Destyn Hill, to fill the slot, both of whom are listed on the newly released depth chart.
