Florida State Set To Play Louisville in 2023 ACC Championship Game

The Seminoles will face the Cardinals in their return to Charlotte for the first time in nine years.

Florida State now knows their opponent for the 2023 Atlantic Coast Conference Championship Game: The Louisville Cardinals. With Louisville beating the Miami Hurricanes on Saturday, it locks them into the title game in Charlotte.

The Cardinals are currently 10-1 overall and 7-1 in ACC play, having only lost to Pittsburgh, and sit at 10th in the College Football Playoff rankings. Florida State would like them to keep winning next week against Kentucky to have a better resume chance on Championship weekend.

BREAKING: Florida State Quarterback Jordan Travis Suffers Serious Injury Against North Alabama

These two teams last met at Louisville early in the 2022 season, a game where Tate Rodemaker had to relieve an injured Jordan Travis and lead FSU to a comeback 35-31 victory. Unfortunately, the team will likely be forced to deal with the same scenario after Travis was carted off during the victory over North Alabama. Florida State leads the all-time series 17-6, though Louisville has won two of the last three in the series.

Florida State clinched its appearance in the ACC Championship game with a win over Pittsburgh at the beginning of the month and finished undefeated in ACC play with a thrilling 27-20 win over Miami. It's their 10th time with an unblemished ACC record heading into the postseason.

Since the ACC Championship Game started in 2005, this will be FSU's sixth appearance with a 3-2 record and Louisville's 1st appearance. It's the fourth unique opponent FSU has played in the ACC Championship Game, having played Virginia Tech (2005, 2010), Georgia Tech (2012, 2014), and Duke (2013). The 2023 ACC Championship Game will be played on December 2 at 8 p.m. at the Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina.
