Nine scholarship players transferred out of Florida State throughout the course of the spring. The majority of those departures took advantage of the NCAA Transfer Portal spring window to explore their options elsewhere.

Over the last couple of weeks, former Seminoles have been finding homes ahead of the 2023 season. Five players that suited up for the program last season already committed to play for Deion Sanders at Colorado.

On Wednesday morning, defensive tackle Antavious Woody announced that he was continuing his college career at UAB. Woody announced his decision to transfer from Florida State shortly after spring practice concluded.

The Alabama native spent his true freshman season with the Seminoles on the scout team while redshirting. Woody began his career as an offensive lineman before switching to the defensive side of the ball during the regular season. He originally chose to commit to Florida State over in-state Auburn and arrived to enroll on time after taking care of his business in the classroom.

Woody was unlikely to play a major role at FSU in the immediate future with the depth on the defensive line. The team is returning experienced talents such as Fabien Lovett, Dennis Briggs, Joshua Farmer, Malcolm Ray, Daniel Lyons, and Ayobami Tifase. The coaching staff also added Braden Fiske and Darrell Jackson to the room through the transfer portal.

The 6-foot-3, 293-pound defensive tackle is the third member from the 2022 class to transfer from the program, joining Sam McCall (Texas A&M) and Bishop Thomas (Colorado). He'll have the opportunity to play closer to home at UAB under first-year head coach Trent Dilfer.
