Former Florida State Running Back Returning To ACC, Will Face Seminoles In 2024

A familiar face will be returning to Tallahassee this upcoming season in a different uniform.

The NCAA Transfer Portal is an avenue for players to find the best opportunity for themselves, even if it takes multiple tries. 

Former Florida State running back Treshaun Ward moved on from the Seminoles last season while seeking a larger role elsewhere. He landed at Kansas State in January and was productive in 2023 but decided to play his final year of eligibility at a different program.

After exploring his options over the last couple of weeks, Ward has come to a decision. On Wednesday night, he announced over social media that he's returning to the ACC to suit up for Boston College. It's an interesting choice since the Eagles will more than likely bring back both of their leading rushers next year in Kye Robichaux (691 yards, 7 TDs) and Alex Broome (280 yards, 1 TD).

During his lone season with the Wildcats, Ward rushed 124 times for a career-high 643 yards with five touchdowns on the ground while catching 17 passes for 129 yards and two more scores. He recorded a season-high 118 yards on 15 carries in a win over Texas Tech in October.

Ward spent the first four years of his college career at Florida State under former head coach Willie Taggart and current head coach Mike Norvell. He began his time with the Seminoles as a walk-on but impressed the people around the program so much that he was elevated on scholarship.

The Florida native will get an opportunity to return to Doak Campbell Stadium, albeit in a different uniform, in 2024. The Seminoles are scheduled to host the Eagles though the exact date won't be revealed until conference schedules are announced in a couple of months. Florida State defeated Boston College 31-29 in Chestnut Hill back in September.

During his time in garnet and gold, Ward appeared in 26 games, with six starts, and rushed 188 times for 1,241 yards with 12 touchdowns on the ground while adding 28 catches for 210 yards and another score. He was named Offensive Scout Team Player of the Year in 2020 and honorable mention All-ACC in 2022.

Ward should fit in well alongside Boston College's rising star and sophomore quarterback Thomas Castellanos.
