Former FSU Football Player Gets Jewelry Stolen After Colorado Loss

The defensive end transferred from Florida State to Colorado in the spring.

With Deion Sanders taking over at Colorado after their 1-11 season a year ago, the Buffaloes were incredibly active in the transfer portal, as they saw a huge roster reset.

One player to transfer in was Florida State defensive end Derrick McLendon. After four years with the Seminoles, McLendon joined Sanders' new-look squad for his senior season.

So far, the Buffaloes are 4-4 through eight games and still have some work to do with their program rebuild. Still, Colorado is one of the most talked about teams in college football despite not being in the discussion for any championships this season.

After a 28-16 loss to No. 23 UCLA on Saturday, some Colorado players, including McLendon, had jewelry stolen out of their lockers. It was a big game for the Buffaloes, as they were able to play in the Rose Bowl, though it ended with both a loss and having personal items stolen while they were participating in the contest.

Well Off Media shot a video postgame that shows players talking about the incident. They lost at least three diamond and gold chains.

Since transferring to Colorado from Florida State, McLendon has 11 total tackles and 1.5 sacks. He's played 307 snaps in eight games with the Buffaloes.

While Colorado has been a fun story this season, they are only 4-4 and seem at least a year away from any conference contention. With as quick a turnaround that Sanders, a former Florida State star, had with the program, they could potentially make noise in the Big 12 in coming seasons.

The Seminoles are 8-0 and could have provided a good opportunity for McLendon to be an impact player on a contending team. Florida State has been able to replace his services with the rise of Patrick Payton, Gilber Edmond, and Byron Turner Jr. behind Jared Verse.
