Former FSU Linebacker Returning Closer To Home In Transfer Portal
17 players from Florida State entered the Transfer Portal during the most recent window. The departures included a pair of freshmen from the program's 2023 signing class; wide receiver Goldie Lawrence and linebacker Dylan Brown-Turner.
On Wednesday evening, Brown-Turner announced that he was transferring to UTEP to utilize his final four seasons of eligibility. He's been exploring his opportunities for over a month. Lawrence previously committed to UCF just days after entering the portal.
Brown-Turner redshirted during his lone season in Tallahassee while spending most of his time contributing to the scout team with the Seminoles. He played three snaps during the home opening win against Southern Miss.

The Texas native will be moving closer to home to join first-year head coach Scotty Walden and the Miners. UTEP went 3-9 last season. Brown-Turner was originally going to stay in the Lonestar State to play his college ball but Florida State's late interest persuaded him to flip from North Texas.
As a senior in high school, he recorded 151 tackles, five tackles for loss, three sacks, and one interception as South Oak Cliff won its second straight title. Brown-Turner reported offers from such as Boston College, Georgia Tech, and Louisville.
Florida State is returning redshirt senior DJ Lundy, redshirt sophomore Omar Graham Jr., sophomore Blake Nichelson, sophomore Justin Cryer, redshirt freshman DeMarco Ward, true freshman Jayden Parrish, and true freshman Timir Hickman-Collins at linebacker in 2024.
Outside of Brown-Turner, the Seminoles saw quarterback Tate Rodemaker (Southern Miss), quarterback AJ Duffy (San Diego State), Rodney Hill, running back CJ Campbell (FAU), wide receiver Goldie Lawrence (UCF) tight end Markeston Douglas (Arizona State), tight end Preston Daniel (Buffalo), offensive lineman Thomas Shrader (Appalachian State), offensive lineman Bless Harris (TCU), offensive lineman Daughtry Richardson (FAU), offensive lineman Qae'shon Sapp (ECU), defensive end Gilber Edmond, defensive tackle Malcolm Ray (Rutgers), defensive tackle Ayobami Tifase (Georgia Tech), and kicker Tyler Keltner (Oklahoma) enter the portal during the recent transfer window that closed on January 4.
