Former FSU star Jammie Robinson has high expectations for the Seminoles in 2023

Robinson thinks his former team can take it all the way this upcoming season.

Next up for the Georgia native will be the upcoming NFL Combine (Feb. 27-Mar. 6) as well as Florida State's Pro Day on March 31. Robinson is looking to prove his status as one of the top defensive backs in the entire draft. He'll be the lone former Seminole in Indianapolis.

Earlier this week, Robinson made an appeareance on Hear The Spear presented by NoleGameday to discuss his career at Florida State, preparation for the NFL, and more with co-hosts Logan Robinson, Dustin Lewis, and Austin Veazey.

Following a ten win campaign in 2022 that was capped off with a thrilling victory against Oklahoma in the Cheez-It Bowl, Robinson has high expectations for the Seminoles this year. He's expecting his former squad to push to win the whole thing.

"National Championship, man. That's it. That's the only expectations I got for them boys, that's it. It's their time," Robinson said. "Hey man, if I had another year to do it, I would've did it. I did have another year but just the way things ended, the way the season ended for me I didn't have no choice. I got to do it but I can honestly say National Championship. That's the smallest thing I can say right now. That's it. National Championship, man."

The Seminoles are returning faces of the team such as quarterback Jordan Travis, defensive tackle Robert Cooper, defensive end Jared Verse, running back Trey Benson, linebacker Kalen DeLoach, and linebacker Tatum Bethune, among others. They are also adding some talented transfers like tight end Jaheim Bell, defensive lineman Braden Fiske, and Fentrell Cypress II.

Florida State's culture has been established on the back of strong leadership. The mentality has trickled down from the coaches to the veterans and even to young players. Two Seminoles that Robinson sees bright futures for are cornerback Kevin Knowles II and safety Shyheim Brown. Both guys have stepped up as leaders despite it being early on in their respective careers.

"Well pretty much you got Delo, Kalen DeLoach. You got young guys like Kevin Knowles, Shyheim Brown. That's a guy, he played a lot of snaps. Kevin Knowles and I can say Shyheim Brown for sure were some of the young guys I can see being bright stars for Florida State," Robinson said. "Just because of the simple fact when they was young, freshman and sophomores, they was always guys that were at the front of the line, guys that led, and guys that spoke up. I look at that, and for me just being a leader, I've never really just been a vocal type of guy. When I got to Florida State and then gaining that respect from my brothers.

"In that second year, it was kind of given to me, it was more easier for me to be that vocal guy. But I can honestly say Kevin Knowles and Shyheim Brown for sure because of the simple fact of like they were leaders," Robinson continued. "It didn't matter how old they was, what status they was in the lineup or whatever, they was guys that was going to speak up. They came to me when I didn't feel good or something like that. Small things like that. I've seen them pick up many guys that's like struggling in Tour of Duty or something like that. They're going to pick them up, run with them, just doing the extra stuff. That opened my eyes and made me become more of a leader."

Robinson developed into a two-time All-ACC First-Team selection during his two years with the Seminoles are transferring from South Carolina. He was the first defensive back to be a consecutive first-team all-conference nominee since Jalen Ramsey.

In total, Robinson recorded 183 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, one sack, eight pass deflections, two forced fumbles, and five interceptions in 25 appearances at Florida State. In the entirety of his four-year college career, he totaled 318 tackles, 15.5 tackles for loss, one sack, seven interceptions, and 16 pass deflections. Robinson had 14 games at the college level where he recorded double-digit tackles.
