Former FSU Wide Receiver not expected to play for Cincinnati in the foreseeable future
Florida State had more than ten players depart from the program following the 2022 season to enter the Transfer Portal. Most of those former members of the team have found homes elsewhere for the spring.

Shortly after the new year, former Seminole wide receiver Keyshawn Helton committed to Cincinnati for his final season of collegiate eligibility. He had previously announced his intentions to transfer in December but stuck with FSU through its Cheez-It Bowl victory against Oklahoma.
Unfortunately, it might be quite some time until Helton is able to contribute on the field with his new program. While responding to a question about the veteran being available by August, head coach Scott Satterfield, who was hired away from Louisville by Cincinnati, didn't express a ton of confidence, according to All Bearcats.
"I don't think so," Satterfield said. "I think he's dealing with a more of a hip injury that he had prior to coming here. You know, it'll be something that we'll evaluate, you know, in the end of the semester to kind of see where we're at. is not looking good at this point. But we'll see where it's at right now. He's gonna be helping us coach this spring."
The Florida native spent the majority of last season rehabbing and it appears that he's still dealing with a hip injury. Helton was limited two appearances in 2022 as he played just six snaps against Duquesne and had one rep against Boston College.
Helton dealt with multiple ailments throughout his career in Tallahassee, including a season-ending injury in 2019 during Florida State's loss to Clemson where he was carted off the field. That didn't stop him from appearing in all nine games the following season. He totaled 61 catches for 819 yards and eight receiving touchdowns while returning 22 kickoffs for 554 yards in five years with the Seminoles.
As a true freshman, Helton recorded a career-high 100 yards and a touchdown on three catches in a defeat to Clemson. Interestingly enough, his most catches in a game, seven receptions for 96 yards and a touchdown, came in a win against Satterfield in 2019 while he was still at Louisville.
At the very least, it's a good sign that Helton is already stepping into a leadership role with the Bearcats. His experience and personality were an asset in Florida State's locker room last year.
