Both on-the-field victories and off-field tragedies marked a historic season for Florida State head coach Mike Norvell and the Seminoles, who are now putting the pieces together for the 'Noles to return stronger than ever in 2024. Norvell has assembled a top-10 high school recruiting class and continues adding top-tier talent via the transfer portal. Although FSU has seen proven winners arrive at their next home in Tallahassee since the team returned from Miami after the Orange Bowl, it can be argued that the most significant portal victory for Florida State was not who transferred in but who decided to stay.

After deciding to enter the transfer portal on December 13th and his commitment to the Colorado Buffaloes and Buffs Deion Sanders, linebacker DJ Lundy announced on social media that he would be returning to Tallahassee for his final year of eligibility.

During the 2023 season, Lundy established himself as a leader in the linebacker room, appearing in all 13 regular season games. Lundy recorded 54 tackles (17 solo), two sacks, and one interception this past season. With the departures of Tatum Bethune and Kalen DeLoach, it is almost guaranteed that Lundy will be the face of the linebacker room in the 2024 season.

With the redshirt senior out of Ocilla, GA, making a surprise announcement to return, his teammates and fans quickly took to social media to voice their reactions as the 2024 season continues to favor the Seminoles.
