FSU Football Finishes 2023-24 Season In Top Ten Of Final AP Top 25 Poll

The Seminoles conclude their campaign as a top-10 team for the first time since 2016.

The college football season concluded on Monday night with Michigan's hard-fought win over Washington in the CFP National Championship.

Florida State's historic College Football Playoff snub left a black mark on a 13-1 campaign. It's an injustice that will be remembered forever in Tallahassee despite the Seminoles defeating teams such as LSU, Clemson, Miami, Florida, and Louisville. The outrage overshadowed the ACC Championship that was returned to the program for the first time since 2014.

Head coach Mike Norvell and the program have a chip on their shoulder ahead of the 2024 campaign. Florida State has already seen a large number of players announce that they are coming back for another season while adding talented transfers in the process.

Shortly after the confetti fell following the National Championship game, the final Associated Press Top 25 Poll of the season was released. Florida State finished the year tied with Oregon at No. 6 in the country, a drop of two spots from where the program entered the postseason. The complete AP Top 25 poll can be found here.

The ranking marks FSU's first top-ten finish to a season since 2016. Coincidentally, the Seminoles also played in the Orange Bowl that year, slotting in at No. 8 in the polls under former head coach Jimbo Fisher. This is the 21st time in program history that the team has finished in the top ten of the AP Poll.

Looking at the remainder of the poll, the Seminoles hold victories against No. 12 LSU, No. 19 Louisville, and No. 20 Clemson. Duke was among the teams receiving votes that were just outside of the rankings.

Entering the offseason, the Seminoles are projected to be replacing seven of 11 starters on offense and defense. Based on the depth chart that the program released for the ACC Championship, Florida State will be losing 26 players on its two-deep to either the NFL or NCAA Transfer Portal.

FSU is working to replenish its losses through the portal as the program has already added eight transfers. The coaching staff continues to search for viable and experienced options on the market.

The Seminoles will kick off the 2024 season in Ireland with an ACC matchup against Georgia Tech in Aviva Stadium on Saturday, August 24.
