FSU Football To Host Boston College On Labor Day For 2024 Home Opener
Florida State won't have much time to catch its breath to begin the 2024 season. The Seminoles are being thrown right into the thick of conference play with an international matchup against Georgia Tech in Ireland to open the season in August.
That will continue into Week 1 as the Seminoles will host Boston College on Labor Day for their home opener in Doak Campbell Stadium. Head coach Mike Norvell previously noted that the team was planning to play on Monday, September 2, to provide Florida State with a little more time to readjust following its trip abroad.

The official confirmation of the opponent in Week 1 means the Seminoles will probably have a BYE on September 7 before their first non-conference home game against Memphis on September 14.
Florida State has defeated Boston College in their last five meetings. That includes a 31-29 victory over the Eagles in 2023 where the team had to respond from an early deficit and a late scare. Star quarterback Jordan Travis suffered an injury to his non-throwing arm that made a noticeable impact moving into the remainder of the season. The Seminoles lead the all-time series 15-5
Boston College finished last season 7-6 with a victory over new ACC team SMU in the Pinstripe Bowl. The Eagles won six of their final nine games under fourth-year head coach Jeff Hafley. The team will be fielding a few dynamic weapons next season, including quarterback Thomas Castellanos, wide receiver Lewis Bond, and former FSU running back Treshaun Ward.
Outside of the matchups against Georgia Tech, Boston College, and Memphis, it was previously announced that Florida State would travel to Notre Dame on November 9 while hosting Charleston-Southern (November 29) and Florida to conclude the 2024 regular season.
The Seminoles will host California, Clemson, and North Carolina while traveling to Miami, Duke, and SMU in conference play. Those dates will be announced on Wednesday evening on the ACC Network and ESPN2.
The contest against Boston College will be the first game in a stadium that will look drastically different in 2024. Doak Campbell Stadium is currently undergoing renovations and that construction will last throughout the season, limiting seating capacity to a currently undetermined number.
