FSU Football's Trey Benson Named Top-50 Player in College Football

Florida State's Trey Benson is coming off an incredible first season that has him on the cusp of becoming a premier name in college football.

Florida State is gearing up for a season that could end in Tallahassee owning some extra hardware. With title hopes, the Seminoles have plenty of top-tier talent that rank highly in the world of college football.

One of the best running backs in the 2024 NFL Draft Class is Trey Benson, who is going to be able to take reigns as RB1 for the Seminoles. He was ranked the No. 44 player in all of college football by Pro Football Focus.

Under Mike Norvell's system in Tallahassee, Benson's skills have been able to shine and will continue to do so with an electric offense around him. He quickly turned heads last season, rushing for 990 yards and nine touchdowns on the season.

One unique wrinkle about Benson's game, though, is that it doesn't stop in the run game. He added 144 yards in the air on 13 receptions and was solid as a kickoff returner. His ability to add value in other aspects of the game makes him that much more valuable.

While Benson is earning recognition for both his past and potential future play, this isn't the first time he's been rewarded. He landed himself a second-team All-ACC selection last season.

On the season, Benson averaged 6.46 yards per carry, which was the best mark in the entire ACC and the 13th best nationally. He's a big-play player, too, as he rushed for 20 or more yards on 14 different occasions.

The impact Benson will be able to make is the reason his rank is so high nationally. He's capable of beating down a defense snap-by-snap or a game-swinging play, and he will play a key role in the Seminoles' ceiling as a team.

Benson and Florida State kick off their new season on Sept. 3 in a primetime matchup against LSU, which should set the standard for the team's season.
