FSU Football's Jeff Kupper Named Operations Director Of The Year By FootballScoop
The truly elite programs across college football are stacked from the top-to-bottom with talent on and off the field. Since arriving in Tallahassee nearly half a decade ago, head coach Mike Norvell has worked hard on filling Florida State's locker room with quality coaches and players.
That's never been more evident than in the past two seasons as there's been a resurgence in Tallahassee that has the Seminoles surging into the future. FSU has compiled a 24-3 record since the beginning of 2022, including a 13-1* campaign last year. In that time period, the program has compiled an ACC Championship and a victory in the Cheez-It Bowl while defeating Florida (x2), Miami (x2), LSU (x2), Louisville (x2), Clemson, Oklahoma, and Duke, among others.
FSU Football Spring Tight End Preview: Who Emerges Alongside Kyle Morlock?
The success between the lines has earned Florida State plenty of recognition for a variety of people within the program. Earlier this week, FSU Director of Player Development and Operations Jeff Kupper was named FootballScoop's Football Operations Director of the Year.
While Kupper's standout performance doesn't necessarily come in the spotlight, his diligence hasn't gone unnoticed by Norvell. The two have worked hand-in-hand since Norvell obtained his first job as a head coach at Memphis in 2016.
"Jeff is a guy who's done it all in college football," Norvell said to FootballScoop. "No job is too big or too small. He truly cares about the players and everything he does is focused on helping them."
"We've been together eight years now," Norvell continued. "He keeps the program operating very efficiently, but he also pours into player development. I'm very proud of Jeff and believe everyone in our program would say the same thing."
Kupper came with Norvell to Florida State after ten years as the Director of Operations at Memphis. He handled administrative duties and worked closely with student-athletes to coordinate schedules. Prior to his time with the Tigers, he worked at Columbia for five years as Director of Football Operations and Special Projects. Kupper was a Facilities and Equipment Graduate Assistant at Ohio University from 2003-05.
His journey into the profession began when he was a student at the University of Texas. Kupper earned three letters as a student football equipment manager. Among his duties with the team, he was also involved in logistical support for three Cotton Bowls and two Holiday Bowls.
The Texas Native was a three-time recipient of the Darrel K. Royal Scholarship Award and the Glen Swenson Award, both presented to an outstanding equipment manager. He graduated from Texas with a bachelor's degree in religious studies and earned a master’s of business administration and a master’s of sports administration and facility management from Ohio.
