FSU Football's Mike Norvell Reportedly Agrees To Massive Contract Extension
To say that the end of 2023 has been a stressful time for Florida State fans would be an understatement. From losing starting quarterback Jordan Travis to a horrific injury, being historically snubbed from the playoff despite having a 13-0 record and ACC Title, roster opt-outs in the Orange Bowl, and the news that the Alabama administration could potentially poach Mike Norvell from Florida State's ranks.
There are also looming NCAA sanctions that were handed down on the brink of all the college football drama.
Mike Norvell Reaffirms Commitment To FSU Football Amidst Alabama Coaching Rumors
FSU fans can rest easy on perhaps the biggest gut punch delivered by the new year now that Norvell and Florida State won't be parting ways anytime soon. Yahoo Sports' Ross Dellenger reported on Friday that in the aftermath of Alabama's coaching search, Norvell has signed a new contract extension for eight more years.
He stands to make more than $10 million a year on his new contract after previously signing a deal for $8.05 million per season that extended him through 2029. His original buyout was around $4 million, and it is unclear if his new contract has a higher price for schools currently experiencing the annual coaching carousel. Norvell will now be one of the top 10 highest-paid coaches in the country.
Norvell currently has a top-10 recruiting class and the No. 4 transfer class in the country as they look to make another run at the ACC Championship and the 2024 College Football Playoff.
NoleGameday has submitted a public records request to garner more details about the deal.
