Florida State running back Trey Benson spent two years at Oregon before transferring to Florida State. At Oregon, the running back appeared in just two games over the course of two seasons.

After transferring, Benson was in a position to get more playing time and usage. Seminoles head coach Mike Norvell has a style of football that highlights playmakers. Sure, he'll use two or three backs per game, but they're going to play productive downs.

In one season with the Seminoles, Benson appeared in 13 games, rushing for 990 yards on 154 attempts, good for 6.4 yards per rush, and racked up nine rushing touchdowns on the season. He played an incredible role in the Seminoles' double-digit win season.

Benson's production got him noticed, and going into his senior season, PFF analyst Trevor Sikkema projects Benson to be amongst the best five running backs in the 2024 NFL Draft.

There wasn't just one defining moment for Benson on the season, either. In Week 4 against Boston College, Benson had a 93-yard kick return for a touchdown and walked in two additional touchdowns on the night.

Following a three-week slump with three straight losses, Benson's usage picked up. He would go on to get 15+ rushing attempts in each game except the Cheez-It Bowl.

In Florida State's tenth game of the season, a win over Syracuse, Benson racked up 163 rushing yards on 18 attempts. Two weeks after this, in rivalry week, Benson cashed in on three touchdowns against Florida while racking up 162 total yards, with 111 yards coming on the ground with 20 touches.

A bump in usage midway through the season and Benson's ability to capitalize in the system have set him up for a promising 2023 season, and if he helps Florida State to a potential ACC or national championship, there's no doubt he'll be able to be one of the first running backs off the board in the next NFL Draft.
