FSU Linebackers Coach Randy Shannon Discusses Progress Through Fall Camp
Day three of fall camp has concluded as the Florida State Seminoles stay steadfast in preparation for the 2023 football season. Saturday marked the first day in shells and the intensity showed as the offense and defense were finally able to thump pads.
"Today was the first day in pads, uppers," linebackers coach Randy Shannon said. "It was the first day they was able to go out there and get a little physical with each other. "A couple of good things, a couple of bad things defensively. We gotta improve."
Although the practice was intense, Shannon continued to point out that improvement is necessary and that they are nowhere imaginable to where they need to be in order for success.

"The biggest thing about it, we have to continue to improve. We're not where we want to be at and nowhere imaginable of what we're trying to get done. We gotta continue to chase the football hard. I mean, really, really hard. Because if we chase the football hard we will make a lot of plays."
There are multiple freshmen who are seeing the speed of the college game first hand. Shannon said that Blake Nichelson, Justin Cryer, Demarco Ward, and Dylan Brown-Turner make freshmen mistakes but that they have their good things as well.
"You know typical freshmen. They going to make mistakes and they are going to do some good things and do some bad things, but if they continue to grow we'll be better. "
Shannon goes over Jared Verse, veteran leadership, and more in his full interview below.
